Located in the heart of the piedmont-triad of North Carolina, Sedgefield is one of the oldest and most historic country clubs in North Carolina. Sedgefield Country Club is best known for its magnificent 18-hole Donald Ross Golf Course. Designed in 1925, Sedgefield has played host to many major amateur events in the Carolinas as well as hosting the Greater Greensboro Open for over fifty (50) years. In 2008 the GGO (now the Wyndham Championship) returns to Sedgefield after a long run at nearby Forest Oaks Country Club.
Restored by Chris Spense in 2007, Sedgefield stands up to today's technology while holding true to Donald Ross' design principals. The large undulating greens and rolling fairways create a challenge for the expert player as well as being fun for the beginner.

8/10 - Well, this is my home course so I'm biased. However, for those that like classic style golf courses, this is as good as it gets. Sedgefield is a newly restored Donald Ross gem in Greensboro, NC and hosts the PGA Tour's Wyndham Championship (formally the GGO). It was restored by Chris Spense in 2007 and is a joy to play. Unlike many of the newer TPC style courses that set up for bomb drives and high wedges, this is a thinking man's course that requires strategy from tee to green. A wayward driver typically end up causing a re-tee and premium is placed on a good putter. The course still needs some maturation but if you get the chance to play, don't pass this one up.
